Custom Foam Cushions
Based on your chosen specifications, we create custom foam cushions. You can design your own cushion by choosing the type of foam that best suits your preferences and requirements. Below you will find more information to help you make an informed decision about the type of foam to use.
Density of foam
What does SG, or “Specific Gravity”, mean? This is the weight of the material per m3. For example, foam with a value of “SG35” has a weight of 35 kg per m3. This does not indicate the firmness of the foam, but rather its resilience and durability.
The higher the SG, the more durable and heavier the material. This also applies to cold foam. The higher the HR (High Resilience) value, the higher the resilience and the longer the lifespan.
Firmness of foam
Firmness is a relative term. What one person perceives as soft, another may consider hard. This is a personal experience and preferences play an important role in it.
When you press on a cushion, you feel a certain resistance. This resistance is known as the firmness of the foam. When you press down on the foam, you can feel the core of the foam pushing back up. The more pressure applied, the more the foam pushes back up. This indicates the firmness of the foam.
Firmness and comfort of foam
The firmness and comfort of foam depend on the usage, the underlying surface, and the person sitting or lying on it. Two examples:
- If a firm cold foam is placed on a wooden board, the comfort level will differ compared to if it is placed on a flexible spring package.
- If you weigh more than 90 kg, you may experience a firm foam cushion as 'medium'.
The following numbers provide an indication of what to expect from the material. It is a guideline based on averages.
- < 3.5 kPa - soft
- 4 - 5 kPa - medium
- > 4.5 kPa - hard

Types of foam
For your customized pillow At MyPilloo, you can choose from three different types of foam:
- Polyether: standard foam to sit on or use for the back
- Cold foam: high-resilience (HR) foam with high resilience and extra comfort
- Quick Dry: foam that allows water to pass through and can always remain outside
You can choose these types of foam in the configurator. Below you will find the characteristics per foam type for your custom foam rubber pillow.
SG25
- Affordable foam
- Recommended as a back cushion for, for example, a lounger or chair cushion (in the back)
- To be used as a seat cushion if not used too intensively
- Also suitable as a mattress for children
- From a thickness of 4 cm (we recommend from 6 cm)
SG35 (medium)
- Softer and durable
- Recommended for sitting if you do not like hard cushions
- Foam is softer and resilient for a cozy sinking feeling
- More durable than SG25
- From a thickness of 8 cm
SG35 (firm)
- Firmer foam and most sold filling
- Recommended for sitting
- Sturdier and firmer (you sit 'on' it) and provides good support
- More durable than SG25
- From a thickness of 4 cm (we recommend from 6 cm)
HR30
- Cold foam suitable for seat and back cushions
- Resilient and soft (medium seating comfort)
- No formation of dents
- Lasts for years
- From a thickness of 8 cm
HR50
- Cold foam for the ultimate lounge feeling
- Best quality foam and highly resilient
- Soft (medium seating comfort)
- No formation of dents
- Lasts for years
- From a thickness of 10 cm
Quick Dry
- Perfect for outdoor use
- 100% water-permeable
- Dirt and water repellent
- Has a medium/hard seating comfort
- From a thickness of 4 cm (we recommend from 6 cm)
